I found a good post on sqlblog.com which has links to overviews on all the new services and features covered by the SQL Server 2008 umbrella.

What’s interesting is the breadth of SQL Server product that exists now, especially with the explosion of user-managed BI tools in the forthcoming R2 release, is possible to be an all round SQL Server professional?  I remember when the arrival of SQL Server 2000’s Analysis Services made a lot of DBAs decide to focus purely on the database engine but now we have everything from CLR integration, SQL Server Broker, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, StreamInsight, Azure…….
